24 Hours on the Road

When landscape becomes the memory or symbol of an ephemeral passing by of a man who escapes from an everyday life that has no magic, then it can become profoundly powerful. Human presence is no longer important because nature is the one that becomes the protagonist. The obvious, but especially the implied mental journey is captured in these images. The escape from a world that doesn't really matter is the highest essence. And slowly the trees, the road, the wires, the buildings are transformed into an immaterial being. Isn't this in a way the summary of our own existence? This explains why in the series “24 hours on the road” the images gradually change from concrete and realistic ones into dreamy, almost surrealist pictures and evolve eventually into absolutely abstract ones where specific shapes and forms no longer matter. There's even further symbolism involved in the imagery and each viewer is called forth to decode them with his/her own personal thoughts. Hence let the journey begin...

Transformations of a nostalgic morning, a serene noon, a moving twilight and an evening that is lost in its own entity... and slowly the trees, the road, the wires, the buildings are transformed into an immaterial being.

The concrete is no longer important, matter vanishes and the only thing that continues to exist is the journey of the spirit...

Όταν το τοπίο γίνεται ανάμνηση ή σύμβολο ενός εφήμερου περάσματος του ανθρώπου που φεύγει μακριά από μία καθημερινότητα δίχως μαγεία, τότε δύναται να αποκτήσει μεγάλη δύναμη. Η ανθρώπινη παρουσία δεν έχει πλέον σημασία γιατί η φύση, η πλάση ολάκερη είναι εκείνη που πρωταγωνιστεί. Το κυριολεκτικό, αλλά και κυρίως το νοητό ταξίδι συλλαμβάνεται σε αυτές εδώ τις εικόνες. Η απόδραση από έναν κόσμο που δεν έχει εντέλει και τόση σημασία είναι η ανώτατη ουσία. Και σιγά-σιγά τα δέντρα, ο δρόμος, τα καλώδια, τα κτίρια μετουσιώνονται σε μία άυλη ύπαρξη. Αυτή δεν είναι άλλωστε και μία περίληψη της ίδιας μας της ύπαρξης; Γι' αυτό και στην συγκεκριμένη ενότητα οι εικόνες από ξεκάθαρες, ρεαλιστικές μεταμορφώνονται σταδιακά σε ονειρικές, σουρεαλιστικές σχεδόν μέχρι και σε απόλυτα αφαιρετικές όπου πλέον τα σαφή σχήματα και φόρμες δεν έχουν καμία σημασία. Υπάρχουν και άλλοι συμβολισμοί τους οποίους καλείται να αποκωδικοποιήσει με την προσωπική του σκέψη ο κάθε θεατής. Ας ξεκινήσει λοιπόν το ταξίδι...

Εναλλαγές νοσταλγικού πρωϊνού, ήρεμου μεσημεριού, σούρουπου εν κινήσει και βραδιού που χάνεται μέσα στην οντότητά του... και σιγά-σιγά τα δέντρα, ο δρόμος, τα καλώδια, τα κτίρια μετουσιώνονται σε μία άυλη ύπαρξη.

To συγκεκριμένο δεν έχει πλέον σημασία, η ύλη χάνεται και το μόνο που συνεχίζει να υφίσταται είναι το ταξίδι του πνεύματος...
